RENEWABLES GRANTS - Ri & REG

The Ouse Valley Energy Services Company (OVESCo) is working on behalf of Lewes District Council to deliver grants for renewables across Lewes District. OVESCo are now running the 3rd round of grants for 2009 and a 4th round is expected to run in 2010. Grants are issued on a first come first served basis and are limited to funds issued. Grants cannot be issued retrospectively.

PV Panels. Solar Thermal. Wood Burning Stove. Wood Fueled Boiler.

IMPORTANT - before applying for a Renewables grant (Ri & REG) you must consider the following:

1. Have you got 270mm of loft insulation?

2. Have you got cavity wall insulation?

3. Have you got good draught proofing?

4. Have you fitted low energy lights bulbs?

The 3rd round of grants was launched in July 2009 and about to close. OVESCo are now taking contact details for a 4th round of grants, which is expected to run in 2010.

The grants are for those looking to install:

1. Solar thermal panels for hot water.

2. Ground Sourced Heat Pumps (GSHP) and Air Sourced Heat Pumps (ASHP).

3. Pellet fuelled stoves or room-heaters.

4. Wood burning stoves (not for multi fuel stoves).

5. Biomass fuelled boilers.

6. Small wind turbines (subject to a good site).

7. Others renewables 'may' be considered such as Photovoltaics (PV) to generate electricity on a case by case basis.

Below are the grants for those in the Lewes District area:

1. Renewables Initiative Grants (Ri): this grant is for those 'not' in Council Tax band A-D and not on any kind of benefits or deemed fuel poor i.e. spending more than 10% of their total income on fuel bills. The amount of each grant for renewables is to be confirmed. But has previously been:

Solar thermal - £600

GSHP - £1200

Pellet fuelled stoves or room heaters - £500

Wood stoves - £250 for Clean Air Act approved appliances

Biomass boilers - £800

Small wind turbines - £400 per kW (up to a 5kW maximum)

2. Renewable Energy Grants (REG's): this grant is for those in Council Tax band A-D. The amount of each grant for renewables is to be confirmed, but has previously been a maximum of £2000.

3. Renewable Energy Grants (REG's): this grant is for those in Council Tax band A-D and in reciept of benefit or deemed fuel poor. The amount of each grant for renewables is to be confirmed, but has previously been a maximum of £4000.
